Easing the Sunday Scaries - 28/1/24

Easing the Sunday Scaries

Sunday 28th January 2024

And there goes January, whizzing by (all 417 days of her!). Onto February next week already, soon be Christmas at this rate!

This week I've been thinking about Emergent Strategy, I finally finished the book so have shared some immediate thoughts over on the blog. In a Facebook group, someone asked how to manage a project that has so many unknowns and I suggested Emergent Strategy as an approach. It got me thinking how can it be applied to the projects we work on if we aren't directly working on social justice. There's certainly a stance that can be adopted in any work setting. (As brown says in the conclusion [spoiler alert!] this is ultimately a book about love) There are practices for an individual to support with growth, there are practices the individual can use with collaborators to bring more social justice to our work, no matter what we are doing. Any one else fancy doing some corporate activism?

I'm getting the hang of sending these newsletters out every week and since my list is so small, if you want to hit reply, we can have a conversation about any of the things I share. I'll also use this weekly sharing to mention my coaching offerings. I'm looking to set up my first group coaching programme next month, I'll let you know more in the coming weeks (although there may have already been a hint in this email....)

Have a lovely week and let's catch up soon x

Easing the Sunday Scaries Sunday 6th October Content notice: I talk about grief and bereavement this week. Skip this email if you need to. Come back on a better day or I'll speak to you next week. x And now it's October. 50% of the marketing emails in my inbox are trying to get me ready for Christmas or make plans for a great 2025. Honestly, I've barely thought about next week let alone next year! I did try, during September, some paper planning techniques. I obviously want to buy a beautiful...

Easing the Sunday Scaries Sunday 28th April 2024 Sheepishly resurfacing after a month hiding from the Sunday Scaries. I went for a long walk this morning and have committed to a month of showing up on social media and saying stuff (it's called the Garbage Post challenge - you have to post 100 times within 30 days) so I thought I would reappear here too. Hope your Sunday's haven't been too scary this month. Recent articles What I'm reading I bought this second hand, it arrived Saturday morning...

Easing the Sunday Scaries Sunday 17/3/24 For the first time in a long time, I don't have the Sunday Scaries. I've been reading a lot and I think I've finally worked out how to align the day job with my mission of working in social justice. It's super early days but I'm going to check in with some colleagues, see if they think my idea has legs and maybe create a bit of squad around my idea. You know I'm a huge Cal Newport fan and he has, since "So Good They Can't Ignore You"*, urged his...
