Easing the Sunday Scaries - 3/3/24

Easing the Sunday Scaries

Sunday 3rd March 2024

Every week I seem to write something about how quickly time is passing and I get it's a bit dull and predictable BUT FLIPPIN HECK IT'S MARCH!! Like how?? I'm really noticing the lighter mornings and the snowdrops and daffodils (and tree blossom but that feels a bit early so we are going to pretend that that isn't really happening, lest we have more evidence that climate change is here)

I said I would have an article about creative activism but (you will never believe this) I got distracted reading a book on learning in an (misguided) attempt to help the eldest child with her GCSE revision (using Book Beat, see link below). I did have time to think about how I might start with some micro activism and (re)discover some eco joy.

What I'm reading

After I thought about eco joy, I realised I didn't really want to be coaching in a way that failed to acknowledge the broken systems we live and work in. This book is giving me hope I can still earn and have a mortgage without contributing to oppressive systems.

What I'm listening to

Groupon had a 3 month free trial offer for a new audio book service so I'm listening to that and saving my Spotify hours!

What I'm thinking

Thinking about climate change and where will the water go that will no longer be absorbed by the grass of the playing fields

I'm doing quite well at sending these newsletters out every week so far and since my list is so small, if you want to hit reply, we can have a conversation about any of the things I share. I'll also use this weekly sharing to mention my coaching offerings. I'm just rejigging my offers to focus on in person, embodied work. Will let you know the minute that's set up. Any questions, just hit reply to this message

Have a lovely week and let's catch up soon x

Easing the Sunday Scaries Sunday 6th October Content notice: I talk about grief and bereavement this week. Skip this email if you need to. Come back on a better day or I'll speak to you next week. x And now it's October. 50% of the marketing emails in my inbox are trying to get me ready for Christmas or make plans for a great 2025. Honestly, I've barely thought about next week let alone next year! I did try, during September, some paper planning techniques. I obviously want to buy a beautiful...

Easing the Sunday Scaries Sunday 28th April 2024 Sheepishly resurfacing after a month hiding from the Sunday Scaries. I went for a long walk this morning and have committed to a month of showing up on social media and saying stuff (it's called the Garbage Post challenge - you have to post 100 times within 30 days) so I thought I would reappear here too. Hope your Sunday's haven't been too scary this month. Recent articles What I'm reading I bought this second hand, it arrived Saturday morning...

Easing the Sunday Scaries Sunday 17/3/24 For the first time in a long time, I don't have the Sunday Scaries. I've been reading a lot and I think I've finally worked out how to align the day job with my mission of working in social justice. It's super early days but I'm going to check in with some colleagues, see if they think my idea has legs and maybe create a bit of squad around my idea. You know I'm a huge Cal Newport fan and he has, since "So Good They Can't Ignore You"*, urged his...
